Verification of Competency (VOC)

WHAT IS VERIFICATION OF COMPETENCY AND WHAT MAKES IT IMPORTANT?

Verification of Competency (VOC), also known as Verification of Current Competency (VOCC), is a method of assessment used by employers to comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and ensure that staff are proficient in operating equipment or performing tasks.

WHS legislation mandates that employers cannot simply assume an employee's competency. In Australia, most sites consider a worker's competency to be outdated if their qualifications are more than 24 months old.

A VOC conducted by a third-party training organisation provides written proof that an operator has met the required standard of knowledge and skills needed to safely and effectively operate a specific type of equipment.

WHY ENROL IN A VOC WITH JORKING TRAINING GROUP?

Not all VOCs (Verification of Competency) are the same. Many training providers offer generic, off-the-shelf VOC programs. In contrast, Jorking Training Group tailors its VOC assessment process to each individual's experience, work site requirements, and aligns it with current Workplace Health & Safety standards and National Units of Competency.

We take the time to understand your business's needs and are open to discussing your specific requirements. Our assessments can include various methods such as mystery audits, workplace observations, challenge exams or a specified assessment that you require.

Our assessors are industry experts with extensive knowledge and experience. We offer VOC assessments both onsite at companies across Australia or at our training facility in Woombye.
